A fundamentalist belief system

I heard Pete Rollins once tell a little anecdote that is a great illustration of the difficulty of relating to fundamentalism.

He once said he sat down with a local fundamentalist pastor to try and sketch out the differences between their two belief systems.  After a while, the local pastor said, "you know Pete, if we go through all these things, it seems we really believe the same things."

To which Pete replies: "Yes, but the difference between you and me, is that you really believe them."
